taevachi: (thinking)

Oh what a scary topic.

Nah, I'm not trying to be particularly controversial here, just thinking of the current political situation.

Like in many places, our current government is right wing. Their plans for their tenure are not good. It's all about making life more difficult to students and poor people. Their excuse is "because the economic situation is so bad, we don't have enough money for expenses like unemployment benefits, everyone has to participate in the money saving efforts". And by everyone they mean everyone except for well-of people, of course. They did, after all, lower tax rates for salary-earning people.

I am a salary-earning tax payer myself, the person who these tax cuts are supposed to benefit. But I am not happy about this at all. First of all, the cuts are so small it's like, wow you get 10 euros more per month. Who cares, that's nothing. It's nothing to me. However, to a poor person, that could mean so much. I'd gladly give that to someone who needs it. In fact, I wouldn't mind paying even more tax than I already did! Because I get enough pay to survive and live. I am not greedy, I don't need more.

Another thing is that, I've been a student and I've been unemployed. I know how difficult it is. I know how much it sucks. I know how stressful it is. And now they're going to make it even worse? I have empathy. I wouldn't want others to suffer from that.

Finally, the situation of a salary-earner is always uncertain. What if something happens and you lose your job? Become unemployed? Maybe lose your health in a way which makes it impossible for you to work in the future? Suddenly, you are in the class of unemployed filth now. Can you truly not see?

I am facing this problem soon as my job contract ends at the turn of the year. Gotta look for something now, if I'd get lucky. It's not fun, it's very stressful and we all know it. And the best part? The current government is also making it so it is easier to get fired and more difficult to get long job contracts. They truly want to create a lower class from which it is impossible to climb up.

In fact, the only thing the government is doing that the capitalists and entrepreneurs don't like is limiting immigration. Of course.

I have no hope for the future of this country. From what I've heard, it isn't much better in other countries. I don't believe things will get better. Likely, they will get worse and worse because we're trying to save our institutions that are crumbling despite the fact said crumbling proves they were never that good in the first place. A life in this world... it is hardly worth living.

My political opinions are getting more and more radical by the day. Now, I am starting to wish for a revolution. Not a violent revolution, and not a Soviet-style one either. We all know "communist countries" have never been successful, and the reason for that is greed. The greed of those at the top. It's no different from the issue that "capitalist countries" face. It's greed, pure and simple.

Greed is the reason we have poverty, corruption... If we weren't greedy, we'd have enough resources to feed everyone. We'd have enough for a good life. A good life does not require a mansion and a private jet. It requires a loving community and pleasant activities. The possibility to work to create something, and the possibility to rest when it's needed.

My political ideology is anti-greed. If humanity is prone to be greedy, we need a revolution to create a system that does everything possible to make it impossible to weaponize greed against others. That is what I think would make life worth living.

But we all know it won't happen. Build a commune with a loved one or loved ones, that's the closest you're going to get. The other option is to just die.
